SJCC aims at creating a new media culture which inculcates values in visuals in this media world that runs after sensationalism. Only creative professionals with a balanced view of the world, analytical mind and commitment to values can contribute to the development of this media culture that values life. it is achieved through a holistic formation that enables our students to produce creative works which are original and noble. The curriculum is designed in such a way that our students are provided not only technical expertise which enables them to bring about quality productions, but also professional competence which empower them to stand for the truth and common good. Guidance from expert teachers lead the students to their career goals and professional excellence.
Radio Media Village 90.8 FM licensed by the Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (Reg.No.FMCR-112/1+1), a flagship concern of St. Joseph College of Communication, is the first FM Community Radio Service in Kottayam district in the state of Kerala. Its aim is to bring voice to the voiceless by involving the members of the community and has won yet another national award this year adding another feather to its cap. It provides opportunities for students of SJCC to work and gain experience while they study. Moreover, many multimedia students do their project works in the radio. Thus by being in close contact with the radio the students get a first-hand experience of conceiving, recording, editing, mixing and telecasting a radio programme.
Media Village Production House is intended to be a wing of Media Village that produces ad films, brand promotion events, corporate films, documentary films, government projects and channel production for either serial or reality shows. It is envisaged to have its own well equipped production unit with latest tools and technology, and state of the art studio and editing lab for post-production. The primary purpose of the house is to realize the vision and motto of the Media Village and St. Joseph College of Communication in yet another capacity, i.e., to transform the media for a wholesome world by inscribing values in visuals. Secondly, the production house is aimed at familiarising the students with the nature and techniques of industrial production. By including promising students into the production process they will be able to gain tremendous work experience while studying.
